Blog 8: A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Imagen
Hi everyone!  In this semester I've enjoyed many of my subjects but my favorite one is "Applied Economic Geography".  So this subject is focused in understand the economic functioning in a geographyc space, with the respective interaction of the people in it. As the name says, is "Applied", which it means that  we study theories about this area and applied math, laws, diagrams and all the many advances proposed by many economic geographers.  The main contest that we've seen is the "Theory of Localization", with the contribution that many scientists/geographers had provided to it. We see graphs and formulas that later we analyze (for example: If I change the closeness of a economic activity to people, how can other things, like the profit) Many of my classmates don't like this subject because it has a lot of theory, but I really think that is very usefull and my teacher takes the time to explain everything that you may not understand in a lot of...

Blog 7: A Career-Related Website

Imagen
Hi everyone! So this time I'm going to talk about a carreer-related website, wich it's Google Earth Engine: https://explorer.earthengine.google.com/#workspace  This website is really complex, I'm still learning how to use it in my carreer. But, in many features, is have access to many images from different satellites in the space right now, even many images from the ones that from today are not working anymore. This is a tool for Geographers and many other carreers that use images to make interpretations of, for example, urban growth. Right in the bar that is in the up section, you can load any satellite you need for your research in the moment of the history you need (in the case the information exists :P).  We are just learning how to use it, so I would say that I visit the site every week or one times every two weeks. I live this site because it is a good way to get better sources of information for our projects and better qualities images of the place we need to study...

Blog 6: How Can Your Major/Career Make the World a Better Place

Imagen
Hi everyone!  Well, I think geography is really focused on affect the world positively. As is a mayor that I've been exploring in the journey, I came to realice that studing the diferent sides of the world in a holistic way is really necesary, considering the tension between Social Sciences and Physics Sciences. I have became really conscious about the diferent problematics of the world in diferent levels and how they conect.  I would love to help diferent cultures, social classes, minoritys and even the earth not only making investigations about them, but trying to take actions for them to make a better place for everyone. Hope somehow that would be possible. Right now, there are many investigations that contributes to the world's benefit by showing realities that through other eyes were never seen. Also, as I mentioned, that paper is the first step. We have to take action about how can we take the evidence and make a change, wich can be through making this informat...

Blog 5: A photograph you like

Hi everyone! So this time I'm going to show a picture that one of my closest friends toke: is of my cat Napoleón! It was taken life 3 years ago when he was 1 year old, but he look so big! I love this photo because it brings me memories of that time that I lived alone and he came in my life bring love and company for those moments❤. Also, I was really surprised when I saw the foto that my friend toke because every time I tried to take a picture of Napo he moved so I wasn't able to get the photo (I guess he didn't like it jajaja), but in this case she catch the perfect moment in a shot! I love also the colours of the pic and how his eyes highlight (passionfruit eyes ❤).  Now, after years of trying to take pictures of him I think I have the necesary to take them and I learned his moves xD this is another pic but token by me a year ago jeje look at his tongue! jaja That's it! thank you for reading and take care!

Blog 4: A Meal or Food You Really Like

Imagen
Hi everyone!  Like I said in class, my favorite food is Lasagna. As you may know, is a type of pasta that has in between any type of sauce, like bolognese sauce, White sauce, etc. In my case I'm vegetarian, so I obviusly don't put "real" meat on it, i use soy meat. If you know how to prepare a bolognese sause with soy meat, it's going to be delicius! I'm convinced that the key of the flaviour is on the onion and bell pepper jeje. Also, it is not complete if you don't put a lot of grated cheese on it <3 I love Lasagna because I think is the perfect combination of flaviours. Also, I love pasta, I think is good in company with almost anything. I don't think it is necesary bad for health (of course you don't have to overidulge with it, it has a lot of carbohydrate and fat because of the pasta and cheese). Everything in a well-balanced way is great!  That's it! Thank you for reading!

Blog 3: My favorite piece of technology

Imagen
Hi! My favorite piece of technology is my tablet Samsung. I've always watched hoy many people took digital notes and was very impresive to me. So, last year, I was able to get this piece for that principal purpose, but in the journey I discovered that you can do whatever you want in this devices, like writing personal things, have interactive digital planers, draw, play video games and even make your own music! This tablet has helped me with my career considering that in Geography we read a lot, so now y have every text, PPT, and notes in the same place. Also, like I said, sometimes I use this device for my free time activities. I highly recommend using it if you want digital notes (that way you don't have to get many notebooks and waste many pages in some cases). Of course there are better options than Samsung, but I think this device is able to do almost anything that you want with good results, considering the relation quality-price. ^^

Blog 2: Why did you choose this career?

Imagen
Hi! I hope that you all are ok :) So when I was younger, I used to had so many dream jobs because I've always liked so many things jajaja I remember that once I decided that I was going to be a musician, but when I grew up I realiced that something was missed in that decision because I needed aspects that could contemplate things like art and "human side" of th world, but also like the "cientific side" of the world. Since that, I went through many options: Music Engineering, Psychology, Math Engineering, and many others. Even after the PSU, I was not sure about what carreer was the right for me. I decided for Math Engineering very insecure about that decision, because the firts time that I got in a University i choose that same career.  So then I applied to that career in many Universities, got acepted in one but the University of Chile contact me to offer other carers, Geography between them. I started to do research about what topics were in the ca...
